Growth Planning Post COVID-19 Shutdown: Company Vision Statement

In today’s discussion I will cover step two of creating your post COVID-19 shutdown growth plan, defining your company vision. “Good business leaders create a vision, articulate the vision, passionately own the vision, and relentlessly drive it to completion” – Jack Welch.

Your vision is the future you hope to realize for your business.  Typically, your vision looks three to five years into the future, but with our current uncertain business environment, I would suggest looking out one, possibly two years.  Your vision is the focal point for all your planning efforts and is the unifying force that has a positive impact on organizational effectiveness. It also acts as a guide for organizational behavior and decision making and provides motivation for you and your employees.

Like SWOT analysis, defining your vision is a group effort that should be done by you and your team.  This assures that everyone has a clear understanding of the future and is committed to the making it happen. An example of a well-rounded vision would be: “By 2022 transform XYZ Construction into $3.5 million dollar in revenue, financially-sound, design-build remodeling company to upscale homeowners in the greater Boston area providing uncompromising quality and service with great employees and fantastic customer service.”

Since the key part of a vision statement is its motivational ability, you need to make it part of your organization’s core. By sharing the vision statement with your employees, you are keeping it alive and using it as part of organizational strategy.

My next blog will cover developing SMART goals.  As always, if you have a business question or issues you would like to discuss, please feel free to reach out to me via our Contact page here on our website, www.ParadigmStrategies.com.
